The Comenius English Language Center - http://www.comenius.com/: This is a terrific site for new students of English. Included are links to idioms, English through fables, key pals, writing, software, various languages, John Amos Comenius himself as well as links to other similar helpful sites. There are also translations of the home page in many other languages, including Chinese, Creole, Czech, French, German, Hungarian, Indonesian, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Polish, Portuguese, Russian, Spanish and Thai. One of the links at this site is Fluency Through Fables where you can improve your English with the interactive exercises.
Transparent Language - http://transparent.com/: is a commercial service which offers translation products. Free Translation is their online translation service which instantly translates to and from major European languages, including French, German, Italian, Portuguese, Norwegian, and Spanish. Their Language and culture pages have a language overview and survival phrases (with audio) for more major world languages from Arabic to Ukrainian.
English as a Second Language: WWW Guide - http://babel.uoregon.edu/yamada/guides/esl.html: The Yamada Language Center, University of Oregon, offers many ESL resources.
LinguaCenter - http://deil.lang.uiuc.edu/index2.html: A university Web site, it has links to a grammar, listening, reading, test prep, and Web basics, as well as links specific to the ESL program at the school. The site is sponsored by the Division of English as an International Lnaguage and the Intensive English Institute at the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign. One very useful link on this site is to other ESL Internet sites. ExChange is an e-zine where non-native learners of English from all over the world can gather and publish recipes, impressions, short stories and so forth.
