La Herencia, The Heritage, refers to the Hispanic culture north of Mexico. Published as a quarterly since 1994, this periodical contains numerous articles by local historians from New Mexico and the Southwest. The editorial consists of oral history, Spanish language and Southwestern literature, book reviews, recipes, poetry, myths, and other forms of Mexican and Spanish folklore retold with documentary photographs and illustrations.
