Online Databases

 EBSCO Magazine Database -
This is the periodical database that the library subscribes to. In order to use it you will need the user name and password, which can be obtained from library staff. Two special educational databases available through the the subscription are: Professional Development Collection which "provides a highly specialized collection of 345 full text journals, designed for professional educators from Accounting Education to Vocational Education Journal; and ERIC which "provides citation and abstract information from over 750 educational journals and related documents from the Educational Resource Information Center and educational symposium report literature dating back to 1967.

ERIC Databases

"The main focus of [this] site is the AskERIC resource collection. It contains links to over 3,000 Internet sites, organizations and much more. The contributions the ERIC system has made to the resource collection throughout the years have helped make it one of the largest and most valuable sources of information for educators." Links are provided to the following areas of education: Counseling; Educational Levels; Educational Management; Educational Technology; ERIC; Evaluation; Family Life; General Education; Librarianship; Specific Populations; Subjects; Teaching; and Reference resources.

Ask an ERIC Expert -
"Got an education question? Perhaps it's been asked before. Check out our Question Archive! We have created a collection of hundreds of responses to questions received through the AskERIC Question-Answering Service. These responses may include ERIC citations, Internet sites, discussion groups, and/or print resource information."
Question Archive -
"The AskERIC Question Archive is a sample of responses to questions that have been sent to the AskERIC service. These responses may include ERIC citations, Internet sites, discussion groups, and/or print resource information."
Lesson Plans -
"This collection contains more than 1100 unique lesson plans which have been written and submitted to AskERIC by teachers from all over the United States."
Mailing Lists -
"Archives of several education-related mailing lists are maintained by the AskERIC Virtual Library. The mailing lists are archived using Hypermail software which allows sorting by subject, date, author or thread. To browse a particular archive click on the title of the mailing list. Within each mailing list's archive are forms to search just that archive."

Online Journals

The following list was created April 1999 by Gail M. Szeliga, Library-Media Specialist, at Union Endicott High School, 1200 E. Main Street, Endicott, NY 13760.

These online journals are either Web companions to the print publications that offer each issue's Table of Contents along with selected full-text articles on their World Wide Web Home Page, or they are "electronic journals" that exist only online. They are divided into four categories: General Education (see below); Library/Librarian Issues; Computers and Internet; and Technology in Schools.

Contemporary Issues in Early Childhood -
"New online, fully-refereed, free-access, international research journal. It provides a forum for researchers and professionals who are exploring new and alternative perspectives in their work with young children...and their families."
Curriculum Studies -
Refereed journal "that seeks to provide an international forum for curriculum discussion and debate."
Early Childhood News -
Refereed journal for professionals who work with young children, from birth to six. Topics include child development, health and safety, curricula, guidance, art and music, nutrition, play, self-esteem, and professional development among others. Selected full-text articles back to September 1995.
Ed.Net Briefs -
Teachers have created this "online newsletter" to summarize education stories from national news sources.
Education Policy Analysis Archives -
This peer-reviewed scholarly journal from Arizona State University offers full-text articles from all issues back to 1993.
Education Week on the Web -
Full-text articles from Education Week, Teacher Magazine, and background sources, as well as selected education articles from newspapers around the country.
Educational Action Research -
"Refereed international journal concerned with exploring the unity between educational research and practice."
Educational Leadership -
The official publication of the Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development, this journal features theme issues on current trends and issues in curriculum across the K-12 spectrum.
ESL Magazine -
Serves "ESL/EFL professionals with a quality publication that combines, trends, methods, products, and services that matter to ESL professionals."
Harvard Education Letter -
"Reports, interprets, and critiques new research and innovative practice in preK-12 education."
The High School Magazine -

Weekly online newsletter provides the latest information about American Federation of Teachers and its members.
Journal of Vocational Education and Training -
"Fully-refereed international journal that publishes scholarly articles addressing the development of practice and theory in work-related education, wherever that education occurs. "
Phi Delta Kappan -
Published by Phi Delta Kappa, the Kappan "addresses policy issues for educators at all levels [and advocates] for research-based school reform." Selected articles back to September 1996 are offered online.

Research Connections in Special Education -
